the upbringing of Miranda greene (born marion Greenberg-lyon) was not that of a traditional childhood. First, she was the daughter of famed actor, benedict lyon and his then girlfriend, model, dara Greenberg. Second, her parents lasted as a couple for roughly the first year of a life before it was her, Dara, with the help of from her parents, Gideon and Miriam Greenberg, two prominent members of the manhattan's jewish community, raising marion. Third, by the time marion was seven, dara packed the two of them up and relocated them to Hollywood, hoping to make her young daughter a star.
as soon as they arrived in Hollywood, dara started having young marion go by "miranda greene," dropping any affiliation to her identity as a lyon and as dara's daughter. It was her hope that the young marion would be able to gain fame and recognition on her own, as well as be spiteful toward benedict, as he left dara. She didn't want him to be able to take credit for marion.
the beginning of miranda's career started off slow. There were a lot of audition's with few call backs and even fewer roles booked. It really wasn't until the release of the 2006 film little miss sunshine, in which Miranda played olive hoover and was nominated for an academy award at the age of twelve, did people start to pay attention to the young actress. From then on out, she there was no shortage of roles for Miranda. In fact, it became hard for her to focus on being a kid and a proper education as her life quickly became that of a full-time child actor.
the roles she took before the age of eighteen were a battle between her and her mom. Dara wanted to capitalize on Miranda being an academy award nominee while Miranda wanted to have fun and do roles that interested her. It was a tough battle for Miranda to try to win what she was audition for, and often times, she'd enlist the help of her dad, who, despite the bad blood between him and dara, was always there for Miranda.
After turning eighteen in 2012, not only were the film selections totally in her hands, but Miranda opened up about being the daughter of Benedict Lyon publically for the first time. The timing worked out, as he was her date to the Toronto International Film Festival for the release of Ginger & Rosa, which happened to be a film distributed by her half-brother, Francis Lyon.
With her career in her hand, Miranda has solely selected working on films that she takes interest in, ignoring what will get her known to audiences. It has been her want to pick quality films with a story to tell. She even expressed in late 2014 how she one day hopes to be a story teller, like her older brother.

• upon moving to Hollywood, dara changed mirandas name from "marion greenberg-lyon" to "Miranda greene" to distance the young girl from family ties in the industry.
• she doesn't have the greatest public persona anymore. As a child, people loved her but as she grew up, the public started to view her as bitchy and having an attitude. This was due to the fact that whenever her and her mother were out, there was always a camera in their face and there was no such thing as privacy. It eventually led her to coming off as cold and with a constant resting bitch face to those who see her out and about.
• despite her mom and dad having a sour relationship, Miranda is close with both of her parents and the family on both sides.
